Paul McLeod (RIP 2010)

Friends

I was privileged to attend Paul’s funeral with a small group of family members. Lynda had done a wonderful job placing Paul’s most prized possessions on the coffin – very special. Paul’s other sister, Patricia, read the eulogy but told me later it was composed by Lynda. It was simple ceremony with Fr Steven Hartley, Chaplain to the Logan Hospital officiating and some of Paul’s favourite Beatles tunes interspersed with the prayers and readings.

It had been over 35 years since I had really had contact with Paul and I had not known until only recently that he moved to Brisbane over ten years ago and that health problems had taken his short term memory but not his long term. Hence his affection for his Marist roots and his lifelong devotion to the Magpies. Lynda’s words in the eulogy told me so much about this history that I had not realised.

May he rest in peace.
